Big Fish Steak & Lounge
Alex Tsaprailis
Owner of Big Fish
It started out as the Old Country Steakhouse, became the Brigantine when the Tsaprailis family purchased it and most recently Alex Tsaprailis decided that the Brigantine needed a face lift and a new name and as a result Big Fish was born. Wow what a face lift! Any one that has been to the Brigantine over the years will not believe their eyes when they enter Big Fish. They will be wondering whether they are indeed in Sarnia or in some major cosmopolitan area. The transformation is amazing, the décor is stunning. Big Fish has the feel of big city; it combines modern with classy but Alex says it has the same warmth and hospitality that Brigantine and Lekoz customers are accustomed to.
I asked Alex why the name 'Big Fish' and his answer was: "It's catchy and easy to remember. Having said that, we don't only serve seafood. Beef, chicken, pasta dishes as well as a great variety of appetizers and salads are on the menu which leans towards an international flavour. Above all my family and I want our customers to feel welcome and at home and to know that they will be getting great service and a memorable meal which will make them to come back again." Alex believes that it all starts at the front door where there is always someone to greet you with a smile as you walk in and to make you feel really welcome.
Food and service is a priority for the Tsaprailis family. They have owned the Brigantine since 1993 and although they did change the name from Old Country Steakhouse they had not done any renovations since then. "It was well overdue; after 18 years it was time to give it a fresh new look and along with that a catchy new name," says Alex. Big Fish has twenty two tables and two private rooms for family and business functions. It also has a very attractive bar area with comfortable stools. As for Alex he loves what he does for a living and will be spending his time between Lekoz and Big Fish. He wants all his customers to know that Lekoz and Big Fish are affiliated.
"Over the last 18 years I've learned how to run this business by working really hard and by making some mistakes along the way. There is always a learning curve in this business and competition keeps you on your toes all the time. Having said that, there is nothing else I'd rather be doing," Alex adds.
